Peering Eyes

Description

“Some of the things I like about large format photography is the formation of structure and light. Taking the time to compose and then waiting for the light. This day with this subject was no exception; 5 minutes before I snapped the shutter; these eyes were in all shade. 5 minutes after, and they were all washed out.”

All of my large format photography is captured with a 4 x 5 view camera, (one of those cameras that need a black cloth over the back; Ansel Adams Style). Each image is meticulously composed under the black-cloth with just me, the ground glass, and my lens to achieve a relationship with my subject. Each picture is taken one sheet of film at a time, Old School, resulting in very sharp images.

Once the film is developed, it is then drum-scanned to get the highest resolution print possible. Printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta.
